For the 104th edition of Social Blend, we’re joined by Geek of Doom, Mr. Tom Cheredar aka Tched, who unites with us as we pay tribute to Corey Haim, who sadly passed away on the day this episode was recorded. We also jump into a brief recap of the Oscars, including the outrage over the Academy snubbing Farrah Fawcett during the memorial montage, the online stream of Oscars news, and the release of the Iron Man 2 trailer after the broadcast.

We discuss former Social Blend co-host Tamar Weinberg’s examination of Internet Marketing Snake Oil – an outstanding article discussing what it’s all about and how people get it totally wrong. You can catch Tamar’s awesome article at her website and it’s called Internet Marketing Advice for Beginners (or How to Spot Internet Marketing Snake Oil).

Tched also brings up the issues the newspaper industry is facing with the age of the web and how they need to adapt to survive. On the other side of the coin, we focus on Ars Technica recently blocking Ad Blocker users and the controversy and debate that followed.

Our band of the week is named Media Nox, and is the music project of fellow Mixxer, Terr – who also hangs out at The Mixxing Bowl and of course, has a sister known as Arianrhod (who you have previously met on this show!).

Presented by Greg Davies (cGt2099 from cGt2099.com) and Jay Fowler (SilentJay74 from JuicySnake.com) the Social Blend is a fun, and hard-hitting, podcast, with no respect for rules. We try to make the main focus of the show to be Mixx.com, and other social media sites; but we usually just end up talking about whatever comes to mind!
