In the fourth episode of Doctor Who Series Five, The Time of Angels, Stephen Moffat has brought back the mysterious River Song and the dangerous Weeping Angels, and we discuss the classic magic and intense feel brought back to the show on this edition of the TARDISblend. The episode finds the Doctor being manipulated into rescuing River Song, and being recruited to hunt down and capture a Weeping Angel – only to find themselves trapped in an ancient temple surrounded by an army of the deadly creatures.
During TARDISblend 5, we take a look at the brilliant banter between The Doctor, River Song, and Amy Pond – as we learn more about his relationship with this mysterious character and discover she can fly a TARDIS better than the Doctor! We discuss the possibilities of who River Song may be, and examine some of the popular speculation floating around Doctor Who fans on the web.
We also discuss the Military Church in this episode, with the fabulous portrayal of Father Octavian by Iain Glen, as well as the reflection of modern war and its toll as portrayed by the Bishop and his armed Clerics. Later, we take a quick look back at Blink, the Steven Moffat episode which introduced the Weeping Angels, and how it fared in comparison to this episode – and of course, we discuss the epic cliffhanger ending to this episode: a scene that will resonate in the memories of Doctor Who fans for decades.
Presented by Greg Davies (cGt2099 from cGt2099.com) and Tom Cheredar (Tched from GeeksOfDoom.com) TARDISblend is a mini podcast that takes a look at the ongoing adventures of Doctor Who – as Matt Smith makes his journey as the Eleventh Doctor in Series 5!
