The Doctor takes Rory and Amy on what is meant to be a romantic trip for them to Venice in 1580, but the journey pits them against creatures that appear to be vampires – an adventure we discuss on this episode of the TARDISblend as we review the sixth episode of Doctor Who Series Five, entitled The Vampires Of Venice. Making an effort to restore and strengthen the relationship between Rory and Amy, he uses the TARDIS to take them to a destination they can use as "a date" (or a wedding present). While there, they encounter strange vampire-like creatures that appear to be up to no good. As the Doctor and his companions investigate the situation further, the question becomes, "If they’re not vampires, then WHAT are they?"

During TARDISblend 7, we bring up the lovely little "cameo" of William Hartnell aka The First Doctor used in this episode – in a little scene sure to delight fans. We also discuss some of the marvelous lighter humor used in this episode from the Doctor’s cake appearance, to Rory’s "Yer Mum!" insult. Additionally, we look back at Toby Whithouse‘s previous Doctor Who story, School Reunion, during which we have a K-9 Flashback!

We consider the elements of this episode that add to the ongoing story arc of the series, with references to the Cracks In The Universe, the Silence, and much more.
