Social Blend 149 is officially the first podcast episode for the new social news site at MixxingBowl.com! That’s right, this week on the show, we feature stories from the new site, and also discuss what’s coming up as well as answering some of the questions you had as well. All of this comes later in the show – and joining us for this episode is the entire Mixxing Bowl crew: Greg and Jay with Keith Wagner aka DarkNemesis618 and Brian Hill aka Bdog2g2.

But first, to kick off the show, we take a look at the politics and the union debates happening in Wisconsin, as news breaks while we record about the state government voting on collective bargaining. What does it mean for Wisconsin? What kind of precedent does this set? Where do we stand on the issue of unions? We talk about it all – without taking each others’ heads off!!

We also take a glance at the week that was for Libya, and how the “powers that be” (read: mainstream media) are beating the drums of war. We discuss the political implications of what’s happening – very briefly – and then ponder what the hell happened to that Libyan dude with the machete???

During the show we pay tribute to Mike Starr, original bass guitarist for Alice In Chains, who sadly passed away this week. We also discuss Space Shuttle Discovery’s final mission, how Republicans are discouraging college-age voters, International Women’s Day, and the tragedy that occurred at Camp Pendleton this week.
