The New Mixxing Bowl Is Now Open

Hey there,

As you may have heard, the social site Mixx.com has been acquired by UberMedia. What you probably haven’t heard is that they’re closing down their “Digg-like” social news section permanently. At the moment it’s still online, but they will be retiring it.

Needless to say, the Mixx community was pretty upset at the news. In response, we decided to create our own social news site… basically it’s the community trying to save itself.

I am very happy to announce we have finally opened the social news site at MixxingBowl.com It would be greatly appreciated if you could come by and check it out

Over the past 3 years the Social Blend podcast has been providing its listeners in the Social Media community a variety of topics ranging from serious to ridiculous. We have grown and developed a strong Social Network with Writers, Producers, Directors, of not only online entertainment and printed publications, but TV and Movies as well.
One thing we feel that has always been a huge part of our success is our audience and that fact that we have continued, and will continue, to provide this podcast free of charge. We have invested countless hours into the Social Media community on Mixx, Digg, Twitter, Reddit, and a variety of other sites. We involve Social Media community members in the podcast, and encourage more people to participate.
We have never, nor will never claim to be professionals, or at any time try to sell any Social Media services. That’s just not how we roll.

The reason I bring this up is a site called mysocialblend.com has come up on our radar. We are not affiliated with mysocialblend at any level. So therefore they get NO HOTLINK! The sites founders claim to be professionals in Social Media, that being said, I guess they forgot to apply the most important tools in the online world called A SEARCH ENGINE. Had they done so they would have noticed that Social Blend has been around for 3 years. We don’t see these guys as a threat to Social Blend, but we do not want anyone to think we are affiliated with them. We are not marketers, we do not want to make money off our listeners. We do however wish to continue providing you with a great weekly podcast.
Once news of the site mysocialblend broke, it’s good to know that our community did not take this news lying down!

If you feel like telling these guys how uncool it is to steal our name you can tweet the @mysocialblend account and give them an ear full. Or email them: info@mysocialblend.com.

A New Mixx Award coming soon from SOCIAL BLEND!

Social Blend is happy to announce that we will be giving away a Mixx Award for Mixxers with each edition of the podcast! Many of you would remember, way back in the day, we used to have a feature on the older versions of the podcast called User Focus; where we would look at one particular Mixxer and discuss why YOU should be following them.

We’ve decided to bring this feature back to Social Blend, and with it, we get to give out a cool little Mixx award, which looks like this:

Yep, that’s right, it’s a beer mug with the Mixx “M” logo on it! The perfect award for Social Blend!

So, how could you get yourself a brew icon on your awards? It’s easy: just keep doing what you are doing… keep submitting, commenting, and participating at Mixx. The User Focus is open to all Mixxers, whether you’re a seasoned Super Mixxer, or whether you’ve just started at the site.

Also, coming soon, will be the Social Blend SB Badge over at Mixx. We’ve always had an open invitation to ALL Mixxers to come and join us on the show at any time. This SB Badge will be placed permanently on the profiles of Mixxers who have guested and/or co-hosted the show with us at any given time. It’s a simple little icon, and looks like this:

All this begins this week on the next Social Blend. Speaking of which, what is coming up for the show? This week Corey Koehler aka MusicGoat joins us for our 5th Craniumelody show, which is where we pick some music for you guys to check out. We do the Craniumelody episodes once every couple of months.

Then, next week, we resume our regular programming. Special guests on upcoming episodes include Andrew Zilch, Bridget Ayers, and even perhaps… YOU! Yes, if you’re interested in joining us on the show, let us know, you would be welcome to join us.

You heard right! A Social Blend and Big Dog Eat Child Christmas Special with the Big Dog Eat Child Comedy Crew!

This is a rare chance to ask our Drunk Ass Mall Santa (Toby Jones) for a Christmas wish.

So what do you want for Christmas?

Ask Toby Jones and Big Dog Eat Child and they will address it on the show! Down in the comments section ask/tell the guys what you want for Christmas… but be careful, these guys do have a way of bending your words around a bit, so please, be careful what you ask for.

All requests have to be submitted by December 21^st and the pod cast will be uploaded on the 22^nd just in time for the holidays!
